Ukrainian consumers increased purchases of rolled metal products by 4.4% in 2020
In 2020, Ukrainian consumers increased purchases of rolled metal products by 4.4%, while the share of imports in the sales structure of ferrous metallurgy enterprises decreased by 5.2%. This was reported in the OP " Ukrmetallurgprom ".
For the period January-December 2020, the capacity of the domestic market of Ukraine amounted to 4 million 903.9 thousand tons of rolled metal, of which 1 million 227.9 thousand tons, or 25.4%, accounted for imports. For the same period in 2019, the capacity of the domestic market was 4 million 697.3 thousand tons, of which 1 million 419.3 thousand tons, or 30.2%, were imported.
The structure of imports for 12 months of 2020 is characterized by the domination of flat steel over long products (55.84% and 42.93%, respectively), which is practically commensurate with the structure of imports in 2019 (55.21% and 41.87, respectively). %).
In 2020, Ukrainian enterprises exported about 14.75 million tons of metal products, or 80.0% of the total sales (18.43 million tons). In the same period in 2019, the share of exports amounted to 82.0% (14.94 million tons with a total production of 18.21 million tons of rolled metal).
The share of semi-finished products in export deliveries for 12 months of 2020 accounted for 50.77%, which is slightly higher than the indicator for the period January-December 2019 (47.18%). The share of flat products in export deliveries for 12 months of 2020 is comparable to the indicator for the same period in 2019 (32.51% and 32.80%, respectively). The share of long products in export supplies for 12 months of 2020 is noticeably inferior to the indicator for the same period in 2019 (16.71% in 2020 versus 20.02% in 2019).
The main export markets of Ukrainian metal products in January-December 2020, according to V.S.K. GROUP, are the countries of the European Union (28.5%), other European countries (14.5%) and Asian countries (14.2%).
Among metallurgical importers for 12 months of 2020, the CIS ranks first (38.5%), the EU-28 ranks second (24.5%), and Asian countries rank third (20.5%).
