Rivne NPP shut down power unit No. 1
Rivne nuclear power plant on January 22 disconnected power unit No. 1 from the network for a 45-day scheduled maintenance. Thus, as of January 22, 11 out of 15 power units are operating in Ukraine, with a total capacity of 10.2 GW. This was announced on January 22 by the press service of the State Enterprise “NNEGC“ Energoatom ”.
“On January 22, 2021 at 00:03, according to an agreed application, power unit No. 1 of the Rivne NPP (VVER-440) was disconnected from the power grid for medium scheduled preventive maintenance. Scheduled preventive maintenance is designed for 45 calendar days and is carried out in accordance with the repair schedule of operating NPP power units in Ukraine. During the repair, both the work schedule and a number of super-scheduled work will be carried out, "the message says.
As noted by the press service, no excess of the radiation background and violations of the conditions of safe operation were detected.
On December 10, 2020, at a meeting of the Board of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine, it was established that long-term operation of power unit No. 1 of the Rivne NPP is possible until December 22, 2030.
