A new steel-pouring stand was launched at the Dneprovsk Iron and Steel Works
At the Dneprovsk Iron and Steel Works (DMK), a new steel-pouring stand was launched in the converter shop, which was acquired by the enterprise last year to replace the old stand of CCM-2.
The new hoist-and-rotary stand (PPS) was shipped to the DMK by Novokramatorsk Machine Building Plant (NKMZ). The dismantling of the old stand continued for several months, and then the assembly of a new multi-ton structure. The first production operations are already being successfully carried out at the new plant.
Vitaliy Kryachko, Head of Investment Projects and Programs, Capital Construction Department:
The new lift-and-slewing stand has begun work, and a series of first spills have already shown how efficiently the new stand is working and at the same time simple to operate compared to the one used here before. In recent years, the carrying capacity of the ladles of the old stand has been reduced to 230 tons of steel; at the new steel-making plant, metallurgists will be able to pour 250-260 tons, the same amount of steel is produced by the converter for one melting. In addition, the equipment of the new stand has been modernized and has an improved modification, which makes it possible to conveniently control the production process and greatly facilitate the work of steel pourers.
UKS specialists are sure that the new stand should last longer, since during the installation of the steel ladle by crane on the log, according to the manufacturer's recommendations, the log is brought directly under the steel ladle. At the same time, there are no shock dynamic loads on the support beams of the stand, which will ensure a longer period and reliability of the work of the PS.
Installation of large-sized equipment was carried out by contractors Metinvest-Promservice LLC.
Help:
The lift-and-rotate stand carries out the reception and sequential feeding of ladles to the continuous casting machine, turning to the working position and the waiting position, to replace the empty steel-pouring ladle with a full one when casting in batches, thereby providing a continuous process of steel billet production.
