Zaporizhstal donated 370 tons of medical oxygen to hospitals in April
In April 2021, the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant of Metinvest Group received a registration certificate from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for the production of liquid oxygen for use as a medical drug. During the month, Zaporizhstal shipped about 370 tons of medical oxygen. In addition to medical institutions in Zaporozhye, oxygen from Zaporizhstal helped save the lives of patients in hospitals in Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Dnepropetrovsk, Nikolaev and Kiev regions.
“On April 2, all of Ukraine recognized Zaporizhstal in a new capacity: the leading Ukrainian steel manufacturer was certified as a supplier of high-quality medical oxygen for the treatment of patients with coronavirus. We responded to all medical inquiries promptly, realizing that every minute of delay can cost our lives. As long as hospitals have a need for oxygen, we will do our best to provide them with a vital medicine for oxygen therapy for patients, ”said Alexander Mironenko, General Director of Zaporizhstal.
As a reminder, on April 21, 2021, a modern oxygen station was commissioned at the Zaporizhzhya Regional Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital, the construction of which was financed by the Zaporizhstal plant of Metinvest Group with the support of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. The plant also provided the station's tanks with medical oxygen of its own production, which Zaporizhstal transfers on a free basis to doctors in Zaporozhye and other regions of Ukraine.
From the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Zaporizhstal and Metinvest, together with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, have been providing assistance to medical institutions in the Zaporozhye region: doctors received 16 oxygen concentrators, 15 ventilators, 34 thousand express tests and three thousand funds from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation personal protection.
