The owner of "Zaporozhkran" received an order for a gantry crane from the US Navy
Ukrainian Zaporozhkran's parent company Konecranes has received a second order for a gantry crane from the US Navy as part of a deal originally announced in December 2019.
A $ 43.5 million order was placed in May 2021 and the gantry crane will now be shipped to the Pearl Harbor Naval Dockyard.
The US Navy may order 5 additional gantry cranes over the next 5 years, for a total potential deal value of approximately $ 330 million.
A crane structure specially adapted to the historical layout of the US Navy shipyards can also be used worldwide in other naval shipyards with similar configurations.
The additional order is a testament to the Navy's ongoing commitment to modernizing its facilities and their confidence that Konecranes can meet its current and future needs with unique products tailored to the stringent requirements of the Navy, ”said Stephen Vaisanen, Vice President for Konecranes industrial equipment.
Originally established in 1908 as a naval base on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, today the Pearl Harbor Naval Dockyard provides long-term repairs, maintenance and upgrades to the US Pacific Fleet using three dry docks and adjoining piers.
Finnish transnational corporation Konecrane has been the main shareholder of PRAO "Zaporozhkran" since August 2005. Operating since the 30s of the last century, Konecranes has gained a leading position in the material handling equipment market thanks to the introduction of advanced production technologies, impeccable quality, high level of safety and reliability of its products, and its economy.
