Gas cleaning equipment of Azovstal is transferred to a dry system using electrostatic precipitators

At the Azovstal Metallurgical Plant, one of the most ambitious environmental projects in the entire history of the plant is being implemented - the reconstruction of gas purifiers of converters No. 1 and 2, during which the gas cleaning equipment will switch from a wet system to a dry one. According to representatives of the Mariupol Metallurgical Plant, the solutions found are innovative and unique.

The technical project was developed by Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH. She is also the supplier of all the equipment necessary for the sale. The general contractor of the project is Metinvest Engineering LLC.

The project provides for the reinforcement of metal structures and floors of the converter compartment. And the purification of converter gases will be carried out at two dry gas purifiers based on electrostatic precipitators. To localize fugitive emissions in the process of pouring cast iron with their subsequent purification on a bag filter around the converters, special dog houses will be installed. Fugitive emissions above the converter compartment will be localized as much as possible.

In addition, the new equipment will be equipped with an appropriate level of automation to ensure its safe operation.

At the moment, preparatory work is underway with a parallel delivery of the main equipment. The construction of foundations for the transfer of the power unit and the installation of new equipment is in progress. In the near future, it is planned to move the power pipelines to place new electrostatic precipitators in their former place.
