Vestas and DTEK RES signed an agreement for the supply of wind turbines for the construction of the second stage of the Tiligul wind farm
Vestas will ensure the supply of wind turbines for DTEK RES during the second phase of construction of the DTEK Tiligul wind farm with a capacity of 500 MW. The delivery of turbines with a total capacity of 372 MW will complement the previous order for the construction of the first phase of the 126 MW wind farm. Vestas received it in March 2021.
The construction of DTEK Tiligul wind farm with a capacity of 500 MW is the largest order for Vestas in Eastern Europe and the first project using the EnVentus platform in Ukraine. The order for the second phase of construction includes the supply and installation of 62 V162-6.0MW turbines. The height of the wind turbine axis is 125 meters.
DTEK is the largest private national investor in renewable energy sources, which shares modern ESG business principles and invests in innovations. Thanks to the successful partnership between DTEK and Vestas, the latest wind energy technologies will be developed in Ukraine. This project is an effective step for DTEK Group in achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 and a contribution to Ukraine's fulfillment of its commitments to join the European Green Deal.
“DTEK will continue to invest in clean and affordable energy to develop renewable energy in Ukraine. The transformation of the Ukrainian energy sector, the development of green energy and the installation of new RES capacities are the most effective tools for achieving climate neutrality and gradual reduction of CO2 emissions in order to comply with the EU and Green Deal requirements, '' said Maris Kunitskis, CEO of DTEK RES. “The construction of the new Tiligul wind farm will be a significant contribution of the DTEK Group to the decarbonization of the Ukrainian and European economies.”
Vestas will provide services for both phases of DTEK Tiligul wind farm construction under a long-term 20-year agreement on maintenance and production management (Active Output Management 5000). Vestas' best practices will provide confidence in the best WPP performance throughout the entire project cycle.
“The supply of 372 MW turbines for the second stage of the construction of the Tiligul wind farm is an important step for Vestas to use the EnVentus platform in Ukraine,” said Niels de Baar, President of Vestas Northern & Central Europe. - We are pleased to continue our cooperation with DTEK RES in the implementation of one of the most ambitious projects in Ukraine. Both stages of the Tiligul wind farm will radically change the standard of onshore wind farms in Ukraine thanks to the introduction of the latest technologies, such as our EnVentus platform.
Commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for the end of the third quarter of 2022.
