Representatives of Ukraine and Germany discussed the prospects for cooperation in the "green" energy
During an online conference initiated by the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, acting Chairman of the State Energy Efficiency Committee Konstantin Gura and Deputy Chairman of the Agency Yuriy Shafarenko identified a wide range of productive cooperation between Ukraine and Germany.
“Germany is a strategically important partner of Ukraine and an example in achieving the goals of the“ green ”course,” said Konstantin Gura.
Last year, Ukraine and Germany signed a Statement on the start of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership. Thus, the parties agreed and are already strengthening bilateral cooperation in energy, including energy efficiency, decarbonization, hydrogen and green energy.

State Energy Efficiency is actively working on the implementation of state policy in the field of energy efficiency and green energy, taking into account European goals.
So, together with the German colleagues within the GIZ of the State Energy Efficiency, together with the Ministry of Energy, a lot of work has been done, especially in the field of energy efficiency. Among the main things - the basic draft of the Law of Ukraine "On Energy Efficiency" has been finalized and is being prepared for the second reading in parliament.
In turn, Yuri Shafarenko, Deputy Chairman of the State Energy Efficiency, reported on the state of development of "green" energy, focusing on the significant potential of bioenergy and broad opportunities for investors in this market.
“37 billion cubic meters per year is the maximum potential for replacing gas with bioenergy resources (agrovidochods, energoslinams, biomethane, biogas). Less than half of this potential is enough to free the country from gas imports and save up to US $ 2 billion annually, ”Yuri Shafarenko emphasized and spoke about the current and planned incentives for investors in bioenergy projects.
“Another promising area of cooperation between Ukraine and Germany is hydrogen energy. The average annual production of "green" hydrogen can reach 5.5 billion cubic meters per year until 2035. Thanks to the indicated potential for the production of hydrogen, as well as the existing infrastructure connected with the EU, the European Union has identified Ukraine as a priority partner for cooperation in the production and use of "green" hydrogen ", - said Yuriy Shafarenko.
