The growth of foreign exchange earnings from the export of ferrous metals from Ukraine amounted to 56.7%
During the first half of 2021, 9.86 million tons of ferrous metals were exported from Ukraine for a total of 6.11 billion US dollars. Compared to the previous year, there is an increase in export deliveries in physical terms by 6.1%, in monetary terms - an increase in foreign exchange earnings by 56.7%. Exports of scrap metal amounted to 230.9 thousand tons (significant growth), pig iron - 1478.6 thousand tons (+ 0.6%) and semi-finished products (square billets, slabs, etc.) - 3 636.8 thousand tons. tons (- 0 2%).
Commodity structure of exports: 36.9% - semi-finished products (square billets, slabs), 20.6% - metallurgical raw materials (cast iron, ferroalloys, scrap metal) and 42.5% - rolled steel.
Geographic structure of exports: EU-28 countries (31.0%), Africa (13.0%), European countries (14.5%), CIS (6.5%) and the Middle East (12.0%) %) and others.
Exports of iron ore raw materials in January-June 2021 amounted to 23.1 million tons, which is 3.0% less than the volume of external shipments in the same period of the previous year, when 22.4 million tons were exported.
Imports of ferrous metals to Ukraine during 6 months of 2021 decreased by 9.7% (to 504.2 thousand tons). Scrap metal imports amounted to 12.6 thousand tons, which is 36.6% more than last year.
