STEAM Camp educational project for teachers of exact sciences completed in Zaporozhye
STEAM Camp training consisted of thematic modules aimed at developing soft skills, strategic and critical thinking, and leadership skills. The teachers studied new digital learning tools, visited modern Ukrainian enterprises that are ready to employ graduates of technical specialties.
The knowledge gained will help teachers exchange their experience and best practices for the effective involvement of schoolchildren in the study of mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science. And as a result - to achieve an increase in the number of successful passes of external independent assessment in exact disciplines and to contribute to the further admission of applicants to specialized educational institutions for technical specialties.
On June 30, 2021, the results of the program were summed up with the participation of representatives of international organizations, participants in the STEAM Camp project, city education departments, implementers and project partners, in particular, the Zaporizhstal plant.
“STEAM Camp is a program that has incorporated all the most modern approaches, forms and formats of education for today's schoolchildren. Like many other educational projects supported by Metinvest, STEAM Camp has become a concentrate of applied tools and innovative approaches. I am sure that this program is one of the important steps towards the revival of interest in the exact sciences among young people, "said Alexander Mironenko, General Director of Zaporizhstal.
By the end of STEAM Camp, teachers have developed more than 400 integrated lessons, in which they used all the knowledge gained during training. Lessons will be posted on a special Internet platform, where teachers can exchange their best practices and apply them in practice. Teachers note that through participation in the program, they received valuable information and have already begun to apply it in practice, creating innovative educational content.
In addition, within the framework of the STEAM Camp program, regional exhibitions of the art project “Science is It”, STEM is FEM, were launched with the support of the UN Women in Ukraine and the UN Children's Fund in Ukraine (UNICEF). Its goal is to popularize technical specialties among schoolgirls.
