Ocean Shipyard completed 30% of dry dock restoration
According to the press service of the enterprise, about 30% of the new shutter of the dry dock of the Ocean Shipyard has already been manufactured. Two of the eight sections are already fully prepared and handed over for painting. Compilation of other shutter designs is ongoing. In total, more than 800 tons of steel will be used to create the shutter design, which will ensure reliable overlapping of the chamber and the possibility of regular use of the dry dock.
Okeana dry dock is one of the largest in Europe and so far the only one available in Ukraine. It is 355 meters long, 60 meters wide, and 17.1 meters deep. The foredock has an area of 35 thousand square meters. The dry dock is equipped with two gantry cranes with a lifting capacity of 320 tons each and four erection cranes of 80 tons each.
The restoration of the dry dock makes it possible for the Okean shipyard to both accept repairs for heavy-duty ships and implement unique shipbuilding programs.
Work to restore the dry dock began in April this year. Completion of the work is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.
