Since the beginning of the year, Antonov Airlines has transported 626 tons of mining equipment by air

Large-sized equipment, including a part of the grinding mill, was divided into four sections and transported by An-124-100 aircraft at the request of Dynami Aviation.

Airfreight was the only way to deliver this mining equipment quickly and reliably on a customer-specified timetable that minimized any delays in mining, ”said Jeremy Sigaul, Operations Manager at Dynami Aviation.

An-124-100 of Antonov Airlines was selected for this project for its ability to carry over 700 cubic meters of non-standard cargo.

“Loading and unloading of the specified equipment, which will be used to create new tunnels at the mine near Komodoro-Rivadavia, was carried out using the onboard cranes of the An-124-100 aircraft,” said Olga Danilova, an employee of the commercial department of Antonov Airlines. “We are grateful to our partner Dynami Aviation for the professionalism and dedicated team that always contributes to a successful flight.”

The cargo was transported for two days. For crew rest and refueling on the route, two intermediate stops were made: one in the city of Sal, Cape Verde, the second in the city of Virakopos, Brazil.

According to a Ukrainian air cargo expert, the number of charter flights to support mining projects has increased in 2021. There were three flights carrying 370 tonnes of equipment from Australia to Latin America in March and two delivering 216 tonnes from Turkey to Burkina Faso and Liberia in April.
