Ukraine has chosen 99% of the quotas for the import of sheet steel to the European Union in three months
As of September 21 of this year, Ukrainian exporters have chosen 98.95% of the import quota provided from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 for the supply of cold-rolled flat products from unalloyed and alloyed steel to the countries of the European Union. This is stated in monitoring data associations of enterprises "Ukrmetallurgprom".
The quota for heavy-plate steel was selected at 83.41%; for gas pipelines the quota is set at 100%. The mechanism for using tariff quotas remains unchanged: after the complete exhaustion of the tariff quota, import duties of 25% begin to apply.
On June 24, 2021, the European Commission decided to extend protective measures for a period of 3 years (from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024) regarding the import of rolled metal products into the European Union, regardless of the country of origin and imports in the form of individual and global tariff quotas. There are 3 periods in total: from 07/01/2021 to 06/30/2022, from 07/01/2022 to 06/30/2023 and from 07/01/2023 to 06/30/2024
