The Vorkutinskaya mine of Vorkutaugol JSC, one of the largest coal mining companies in Russia, part of Severstal, has launched a new cleaning face in the southern block of the mine.
Lava 712 is located on the seam Triple, and its reserves are 800 thousand tons of 2Zh grade coking coal. The company plans to fully develop them in May 2020.
“The thickness of the coal seam is 2.7 meters. The length of the extraction pillar is 1.2 kilometers, the length of the longwall face is 196 meters. During the preparation of the assembly chamber, for the first time, we fully used the anchoring of the mine working, "said IlyaShunov, deputy director for production at the Vorkutinskaya mine.
The longwall was installed by specialists from the Vorkuta Mechanical Plant, a service company of Vorkutaugol JSC. They carried out this work jointly with the team of the coal mining section No. 8 of the Vorkutinskaya mine, which will develop these reserves. The transition from the previous face to the new one took 50 days.

The Vorkutinskaya mine was built on the basis of mines No. 1 "Capital" and No. 40 and commissioned in 1973. Today the enterprise mines two longwalls in the Triple and Fourth layers. In 2018, Vorkutinskaya produced 1.9 million tons of coal.
