The history of pipeline fittings begins with the appearance of writing in China, India, and Egypt. The Babylonian king Hammurapa issued several laws engraved in cuneiform on a partially preserved basalt column in the 17th century BC. e., which testify to the ability to service artificially irrigated land plots by opening and closing ditches.
