Recently, the specialists of Technoros have implemented a number of significant projects for the metallurgical industry. Six new overhead cranes have been successfully put into operation for the leading companies in the domestic steel industry: Ural Steel, West Siberian Iron and Steel Works, Nizhniy Tagil Iron and Steel Works, and Severstal.
For example, in the summer of this year, TECHNOROS commissioned a casting crane for a large metallurgical plant, Ural Steel. It is a four-beam bridge steel casting crane KMEML 210+63/20-27,5-A8, U3, with the main hoisting capacity of 210 tonnes and the auxiliary hoisting carriage with the lifting capacity of 63/20 tonnes. The overhead foundry crane of 180+63/20 tons lifting capacity was replaced by a new crane of higher lifting capacity for operation in the casting bay of the electric steelmaking shop. New crane is used for transportation of steel ladles with molten metal and metal casting at CCM, as well as to ensure non-stop organization of production process in the casting aisle of the shop.
The crane design incorporates a new principle of connecting main beams with travel balancers. This greatly simplifies repair and maintenance of equipment. Reliability of metal structures of critical units and joints is ensured by multistage quality control of their manufacturing.
The crane movement mechanism consists of 4 separate drives. In case one of the travel drives fails, the other drives ensure crane operation in abnormal mode until the technological operation is completed. The crane is equipped with a proximity control system for adjacent cranes. The layout of the main crane hoist drive is based on a new-generation scheme using a differential reducer.
The crane is powered from DC power supply through trolley current lead.
Last year a similar crane manufactured by TECHNOROS began operating at EVRAZ ZSMK, the largest steelmaking company in Siberia. The new KMMML 210+63/20-27.5-A7, U3 overhead four-beam steelcasting crane installed in the casting aisle of the electric-furnace melting shop is designed to perform a number of technological operations required for melting and casting of liquid steel. The crane also features a modern design of the main hoist drive using a differential reducer instead of a traditional gear transmission. The feedback of the crane main hoist electric motors to the control system by means of a rotor position sensor makes it possible to lift the load at preset speeds. The crane movement mechanism is equipped with encoders to synchronize the movement of drives on opposite sides of the crane and prevent its misalignment. To ensure safety and accident-free operation the crane has also been equipped with special appliances and devices: limit switches, lifting capacity limiters, crane scales, electrical protection and blocking devices. Power supply of the new crane is effected from three-phase alternating current network with nominal voltage 380 V.
The range of TEKHNOROS foundry cranes includes two- and four-girder cranes with the lifting capacity of the main hoist from 100 to 500 tons, which covers almost all the needs of the largest enterprises of the industry.
Recently, the Novolipetsk Steel has been operating an overhead crane 150+80/20-27-A7, which performs handling operations at the vacuum degassing unit equipment repair and preparation area and also technological operations at the vacuum degassing unit itself in the BOF shop aisle, with temperature conditions ranging from -40 to +80 degrees.
Two more overhead special cranes KMETSvg 45/45/45-33,5-A8, U2, with the carrying capacity of 45 tons were put into operation at Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works of EVRAZ Holding. The equipment operates in the finished-products shop of the plant. Both cranes are used for feeding, laying, sorting, cleaning and edging of continuously cast billets weighing 45 tons and with a temperature of 900°C. The two-beam cranes with slewing carts and flexible traverse suspension are equipped with magnets and controllable pick-ups. This project successfully implemented a non-standard solution that allowed him to get rid of some technical difficulties that arose during the operation of old cranes with a rigid suspension of the traverse.
Another special overhead crane KMEST 62/35/20-33-A7, U3 with the lifting capacity of 62/35/20 tons on hook hangers, magnets and magnetic traverse hooks respectively, manufactured by PO TECHNOROS according to an individual project, has recently started to operate in the rail and structural shop of EVRAZ NTMK. The crane with the flexible suspension shackle and controlled grips is used at the rail heat treatment site and is designed for lifting and transporting rolled rail heated to the temperature of 200°C. The crane is also used for a number of shop equipment repair works. Construction of all crane units provides unit-by-unit replacement of defective equipment without disassembly of metal structures and similar large-size units that increases crane maintainability.
A few months ago an electric overhead crane with a rigid suspension beam and rotating carriage (the so-called pratzen-crane) KMESTVZh 16/16/16-31-A8 designed and manufactured by specialists of PO TEKHNOROS was put into operation. The equipment with the lifting capacity of 16 tons is operated in the bar shop of PJSC "Severstal" at the section of billets. The Pratzen crane ensures the unloading of billets up to 12m long and up to 500°C temperature from the rail platforms, the handling of billets along the aisle for storage in racks and on the charging screens of section mills, the support of the rolling process of the Rolling Mill 350.
The design of the crane includes a set of the most modern technical solutions to reduce the number of repairs and increase the service life of the equipment:
A system that monitors crane misalignment.
There are two inductive sensors on each balancing cart. When one endcarriage runs over the other, the control system aligns the crane based on the readings of the inductive sensors.
Lift mechanism vibrodiagnostic system.
On the motor bearing units and on the bearing units of the first and second stage of the crane hoist gearboxes there are sensors which transmit the signal to the crane control system. When an abnormality is detected, the control system sends information to the crane operator's display.
Automated rail lubrication system.
As the crane moves, the rollers of the automatic rail lubrication system apply lubricant to the sides of the crane rail. The system components are mounted on a vertical bracket in the middle of the crane endcarriages. A similar system is also used on some other cranes manufactured by PO "TEKHNOROS", successfully working at the largest metallurgical plants in the country.
TECNOROS traditionally supplies metallurgists with other special process cranes: mulling, well, forging, pincer, magnetic and magnetic-grab, traverse, as well as gantry clamshell ore cranes.
Today, the company's product range can meet the needs of the metallurgical industry not only in crane equipment. TEKHNOROS offers a wide range of equipment for bulk cargo handling.
In September 2020 a modern portal chain bucket reclaimer with the capacity of 1200 t/hour for iron ore was put into operation at the open stockyard of Třinecké železárny A.S., Třinec, Czech Republic. The reclaimer is used for averaging ore materials in the production of blast-furnace sinter and charge mixture for steelmaking, as well as for unloading of bulk stacks and continuous feeding of averaged material to the storage conveyor. The task of ore averaging is also relevant for Russian metallurgists.
Metallurgical plants and mining and processing plants often receive coal and iron ore raw materials by rail. Car dumpers are used for unloading of gondola cars. Depending on the size and capacity of gondola cars, car dumpers can have the capacity of 100, 110, 125 and 134 tons. Rotary or lateral wagon dumpers are mainly used. The entire range of car dumper trucks is supplied by the company TECHNOROS. Earlier this year the company completed delivery of car dumper VRS-93-110M to Novo-Irkutskaya CHPP. Coal-fired power companies are also actively using such equipment.
Development and turnkey implementation of unique engineering and technical solutions for the metallurgical industry has traditionally been one of the priority activities of the Industrial Association TECHNOROS. For 30 years of work in heavy machinery market the company has manufactured and supplied more than 100 units of complex handling equipment for the largest enterprises of the industry.
