PJSC Severstal announces the launch of the Museums of the Russian North charitable grant program, within the framework of which applications for the first stage of the competition for museum projects - participation in the "Made in the Museum" design laboratory, are starting.
The Museums Program Russian North ”-2019 is held with the aim of promoting sustainable development of the northern regions through the support of new directions and forms of museum work and is focused on updating the historical and cultural heritage of the Russian North, identifying the best project initiatives of regional museums, improving the professional skills of museum workers. The program is being implemented in 12 regions: the republics of Karelia and Komi, Perm Krai, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kirov, Kostroma, Leningrad, Murmansk, Novgorod and Pskov regions, Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
In 2019, the program will retain its structure of three parts : grant competition of museum projects, a visiting practical laboratory and a competition of travel grants for museum employees.
The X grant competition of projects of the Museums of the Russian North program supports initiatives aimed at mastering modern methods and technologies for studying the cultural phenomenon of the Russian North, new approaches to comprehension and practice of heritage presentation, development of forms of interaction between the museum and local communities, increasing the socio-cultural and tourist attractiveness of the northern regions.
The competition will be held in two stages. On June 10, applications start for the first stage - participation in a practical laboratory to work out the ideas of the projects formulated in the applications.
The "Made in Museum" laboratory will be held from October 1 to 4, 2019 and will be focused on increasing the level of project culture museum staff and the quality of museum projects, exchange of experience and new technologies in museum business, discussion of problems and effective practices of broadcasting and interpreting cultural heritage. The laboratory program will combine theoretical training (expert reports, lectures, seminars) and practical work of participants on applications in small groups under the guidance of curators. Respected experts in the field of museums, socio-cultural design and creative industries, practitioners and experts from the field of art and culture will take part in the laboratory. The organizers will additionally inform about the location of the laboratory.
State, municipal museums and art galleries, as well as museums of other profile groups that have art collections from 12 regions participating in the program, are invited to participate in the first stage of the competition. Applications will be accepted until July 10.
The list of winners of the first stage - laboratory participants will be determined by the Expert Council of the Museums of the Russian North program and announced on July 26, 2019.
At the second stage of the X grant competition of projects - From October 14, applications will be accepted with already developed projects for a grant. Participation in the practical laboratory "Made in the Museum" is not a prerequisite for participation in the competition of projects. Museums that did not participate in the laboratory have the right to apply immediately for the second competitive stage.
The travel grant competition provides an opportunity for museum specialists to attend conferences, seminars, forums and other events related to both professional museum activities and broad spectrum of general cultural problems. The number of activities also includes internships and refresher courses.
The competition is organized in one stream. Acceptance of applications for travel grants for participation in events from September to December 2019 will open on July 1.
