Supplies of ferrous metal products to Russia increased by almost 5% in 2018.
In 2018, more than 7 million tons of ferrous metal were imported to the territory of the Russian Federation. Compared to last year, the volume of metal supplies increased by 4.9%. According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, imports increased by 3.9% in December compared to November, which is equal to 0.487 million tons. If we do not take into account pig iron, waste, ferroalloys and scrap, metal imports for 2018 will amount to 5.666 million tons. In relation to 2017, the volume of supplies decreased by 0.4%. In December, 0.383 million tons of these metals were imported, which is 4.3% more than in November. Supplies of steel pipes in 2018, compared to 2017, decreased by 22.1%. Over the past month, 0.061 million tons of pipes were imported, which is 4% more than last month's deliveries. 7.2% in 2018 amounted to the weight of metals and products in the commodity structure of imports, in 2017 it was 6.9%. Some of the goods from distant foreign countries make up 5.9%, in 2017 - 5.7%, from the CIS countries - 17.3%. The cost of these goods increased by 8.5% compared to the previous year, while the physical volume of goods increased by 1.6%.
