At the Oskol electrometallurgical plant named after A.A. Ugarov (part of the Metalloinvest company) two installations for chamfering on round bars produced by the plant have successfully passed hot testing and warranty tests. Two more similar machines will appear in the mill's rolling shop No. 1 by the end of November.
The presence of a chamfer, a specially obtained edge on the end surface of the bars, is a mandatory requirement on the part of customers for high-quality bars (Special Bar Quality, SBQ). It guarantees trouble-free loading of workpieces into machines for further processing.
Investments in the purchase of new equipment amounted to about 210 million rubles.
“OEMK is a leader in the Russian special quality rolled steel market, it provides stable supplies to foreign consumers,” commented the Managing Director of OEMK im. A.A. Ugarova Alexey Kushnarev. - The preservation and strengthening of the company's position is achieved primarily due to constant work to control and improve the quality of products and productive interaction with customers in terms of taking into account their requirements.
Two chamfering units manufactured by ZDAS (Czech Republic) have been mounted at the stripping section of the rolled finishing section of section rolling shop No. 1. Two more machines will appear at the stripping section of the shop. The new equipment automates the chamfering process, guarantees its safety, and ensures accurate edge cutting at the front and rear ends of circular bars with a diameter of 80 to 200 millimeters at an angle of 30, 45 or 60 degrees.
SBQ is a high quality rolled steel section specially designed for use in mechanical engineering. Connecting rods, camshafts and crankshafts of internal combustion engines, gear wheels, shafts and gear shafts of gearboxes, steering parts, rods, struts and shock absorber springs are made from it. In addition, SBQ is used in the production of aircraft and ship parts.
