In Yekaterinburg with the support of TMK held a hackathon on digital technologies in the production

students of the Ural Federal University (Urfu) in Ekaterinburg will take part in the hackathon "Modern digital production technology" which will be held at the University from 6 to 8 November with the support of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) and German software manufacturer SAP.

during the event, students have to solve four problems, namely: to create a digital scenario of enterprise management processes, to apply machine learning to industrial problems of metallurgy, you can use predictive Analytics for condition monitoring of equipment to automate the work with data platforms to manage the assets of the company. Educational and design program of the event includes master classes from experts of TMK and SAP training sessions on design thinking, working on technical and software prototypes and final presentation of projects of participants.

the venue is the innovation lab of the SAP Next-Gen Lab, which was established in the framework of the agreement signed TMK, SAP, and Urfa in July 2018 at the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM in Yekaterinburg. In the laboratory students develop and test solutions for the metallurgical industry using the latest technologies: blockchain, the industrial Internet of things, augmented reality, machine learning, computer vision etc.

"We expect that the results of the hackathon will be presented a specific solution of urgent problems for TMK. Last year, the students proposed an interesting project to monitor the condition of the roofs of the factory floor with a specially equipped drone. This proposal significantly optimized the process of repair of roofs, it is now being implemented on the basis of one of TMK's plants. I am sure that this year will showcase no less impressive, and most importantly — effective solutions", — said General Director of TMK Igor Korytko.

"Hackathons have become a part of the educational process for engineering and IT areas in Urfa. These events complement the model of project-based learning: students offer innovative ideas for intensives, modifying them in the future to a full product by the order of the company-partner", — said Urfu rector Viktor Koksharov.

"of SAP in the world and in Russia is actively involved in educational initiatives, one of our main challenges is to establish effective cooperation of universities and the leading Russian companies, giving the opportunity to young specialists to solve specific problems, learn to work with new technologies. The hackathon is a good format to implement your ideas, to gain new knowledge and skills, and it's not just the competition, but also teamwork, communication with experts", — said General Director of SAP CIS Andrey Filatov.
