The future of mining begins today: cooperation between the EVOBLAST Group and St. Petersburg Mining University

The EVOBLAST Group, a Russian developer of innovative integrated solutions for drilling and blasting operations, is developing strategic cooperation with leading universities to attract young people to technical and engineering specialties. So, in 2025, the Group became an academic partner of the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II (SPSU).

A new stage began with the equipping of the Department of Explosives at St. Petersburg State University – the auditorium was equipped with modern personal computers for students to master practical skills. Samples of the equipment used at the mines were transferred to the laboratory, as well as a mock-up of an underground mining operation to strengthen knowledge on the installation of an explosive network.

The EVOBLAST Group actively participates in the training of qualified engineering personnel, always happy to support the initiatives of colleagues in terms of University students undergoing introductory and production internships at their plants. For example, for several years, students studying in the field of Explosives have been interning at the Group's production sites in the Leningrad and Murmansk regions, as well as in the Trans-Baikal Territory. Under the supervision of senior experienced staff, they get acquainted with modern technologies and processes of blasting operations.

This summer, an excursion to the EVOBLAST enterprise in Priozersk, Leningrad Region, was organized for students of St. Petersburg State University. The participants visited the quarry, where they were told about how drilling and blasting operations are conducted, what equipment and explosive materials are used. After that, the group went to a factory for the production of emulsion explosives (EVV), whose employees shared the intricacies of their manufacture and use. The highlight of the program was a demonstration of a mixing and charging machine (SPM).

The partnership between the EVOBLAST Group and the University is not limited to educational projects, it also includes research projects.

For example, in May 2025, the Group became the silver partner of the XII International Scientific and Practical Forum "Innovative directions in the design of mining enterprises: Safe and efficient development of mineral deposits", where she also presented relevant technologies for conducting blasting operations.

The St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II is the oldest technical university in the country and conducts research on environmental management and the development of advanced technologies for mining and processing minerals. The partnership allows the EVOBLAST Group to contribute to the development of the educational sphere and train personnel who will be able to effectively in the future.
