TMK and VolgSTU will jointly develop science and education in the Volgograd region

TMK Research Center (TMK Research Center) and Volgograd State Technical University (VolgSTU) have signed a ten-year strategic cooperation agreement. The parties plan to conduct joint research and develop the scientific and educational infrastructure of the region.

The document was signed by Igor Pyshmintsev, CEO of TMK Information Center, Alexander Navrotsky, Acting Rector of VolgSTU, and Sergey Chetverikov, Vice President of TMK, as part of the XIX Volgograd Regional Educational Forum "Education-2026".

The partnership provides for cooperation in scientific and educational fields, including research, technology exchange, digitalization of production, as well as the implementation of joint educational programs and internships. The first projects will be devoted to improving the technologies of stainless steel smelting and production of stainless pipes.

"Cooperation with specialized higher education institutions is one of the key areas of work of the TMK research unit. The signing of the agreement reflects our commitment to a systematic interaction between university and industry science. Joint projects in the field of new materials and digital solutions will not only solve current technological problems, but also train specialists who possess the most sought—after competencies," said Igor Pyshmintsev.

"We consider this agreement as an element of the systemic development of the scientific and educational ecosystem of the region. Combining the potential of the university and an industrial partner will accelerate the introduction of innovations, strengthen the research base and create conditions for the emergence of new technological solutions in metallurgy. This is a contribution to the sustainable development of both the Volgograd Region and the industry as a whole," said Alexander Navrotsky.

The cooperation between TMK and VolgSTU is systematic. Earlier, with the support of the Volga Pipe Plant (VTZ, a branch of TMK), the university opened a basic department of Environmental Protection and Resource Conservation, a metalworking laboratory and a TMK corporate auditorium.
