Rolls are used on rolling mills to give the metal the desired shape (e.g., rolled sheet, rails or beams). The technology of a full cycle of production of large rolls weighing more than 25 tons of forged blanks the first time in Russia implemented on metallurgical enterprises belonging to the same industrial group.
Ingots of vacuum steel for the manufacture of rolls weighing up to 60 tons spill at Chelyabinsk metallurgical plant (CHMK), then hot special wagons-thermoses sent to the Chelyabinsk branch of factory "the Ural smithy". There in a press-forging workshop will give them the desired shape using a press. The weight of the obtained forgings is up to 45 tons. Further the CMP in the machine shop completed the production of the roll weight of up to 30.8 tons. The finished product is installed in the rolling mill used in production.
"to ensure the possibility of production of large forgings, the company had installed several new machines for machining. Each unit is unique, manufactured according to individual sizes and are subject to thorough control", – said the chief engineer of PJSC "uralkuz" Daniel Margenau.
"Our advantage is that the rolls are manufactured by the companies belonging to the same group of companies. This will allow the steel division of Mechel to reduce the cost of the purchase of rolls from third parties to reduce the time of manufacture and develop new technology to improve durability of the equipment," concluded technical Director of JSC "CHMK" Andrey Zyryanov.
In the nearest plans – development of production of ingots weighing up to 80 tons, fully meet the needs of enterprises of "Mechel" in the rolling rolls.
the Exhibition was held in Moscow for the 25th time. This year in it participated about 600 companies from 34 countries. Visitors to the exhibition were more than 30 thousand people.
