The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) has mastered the technology of applying weather-resistant coating to large-diameter pipes. The first industrial batch, manufactured in the shop "Height 239" of the TMK Pipeline Solutions branch, included about 500 tons of pipes with a diameter of 820 mm.

The weather-resistant coating protects pipes from temperature fluctuations, UV rays, prolonged exposure to moisture, as well as some aggressive environments. The technology includes spraying the first anticorrosive layer in powder form onto a pipe heated to a temperature above 200 degrees Celsius, the gelation process, applying a second protective layer, and intensive cooling with water supplied at a specially set angle with a certain force and temperature.

To fulfill the order, the pipe anti-corrosion coating section of the shop "Height 239" was retrofitted with a unit for applying a second layer, and the layout of special spray guns was changed.

"TMK continues to improve the technological process for the production of large-diameter pipes in accordance with market requirements and strategic priorities for the development of the customer offer. High engineering competencies and investments in equipment make it possible to expand the product range and respond promptly to customer requests," said Evgeny Gubanov, Managing Director of TMK Pipeline Solutions.

The production facilities of the shop "Height 239" allow applying internal smooth-skin, external anticorrosive polyethylene and epoxy coatings on large-diameter pipes, as well as on small-diameter seamless pipes.
