Blastr announces the departure of CEO Mark Buhl
Blastr Green Steel, a low-carbon steel manufacturer developing new production facilities in Finland, has announced the departure of its current CEO Mark Buhl.
"Mark played a key role in making Blastr what it is today, and the Board would like to thank him for his contributions," Blastr said in a press release.
Blastr stated that "all existing business operations and commitments are continuing as normal," and the company is "fully committed to further developing Blastr's businesses and maintaining strong relationships with our partners, suppliers, and employees."
In a separate post on social media, Bula explained that he would remain with the company. Limited capacity to support Blastr in the "orderly transfer" of its responsibilities. Bula served as CEO at Blastr for just over two years, before that he worked on steel processing projects at Big River Steel in the United States, and then moved to the position of technical director at rival steel company H2 Green Steel, now Stegra. Further
Bula singled out the European steel industry as an example of how the domestic political environment remains insufficiently supportive for the real realization of industrial decarbonization, describing "the unpleasant contradiction between the desire for cleaner and safer internal supply chains and opposition to mines, electricity generation, transmission, ports, railways and industrial facilities necessary for this.". Create them.
"If we are not ready to create them in the G7 countries, we should not be surprised when most of the industrial capacity in the world will be built somewhere else."
As described in McCloskey's Global Green Steel Profile, Blastr is developing a new low-carbon electric-steelmaking facility based on arc furnaces (EDP) in Inkoo, Finland; it consists of a hydrogen electrolyzer, a cast iron direct reduction (DRI) unit with a capacity of 2 million tons per year and an EDP with a capacity of 2.5 million tons per year, as well as a line slab casting and rolling.
