Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) told the participants of the 18th International Exhibition on Municipal, industrial, construction, agricultural Waste management and ecology WeistTek about the integrated and systematic management of industrial waste and the experience of reclamation of their sites.
Marianna Klimova, Head of the Ecology and Climate Service and Chief Ecologist at TMK, took part in the discussion "Waste disposal facilities — deferred risk areas. Comprehensive solutions for the operation, closure and reclamation of industrial waste disposal facilities."
She said that the company currently operates six waste disposal facilities, has completed remediation work on four land plots, is conducting remediation at four more sites, and preparations are underway for the relevant work at three. In addition, in Pervouralsk, in order to integrate the waste disposal process into a single production cycle and maximize control over their disposal, it is planned to build a new facility, the project provides for hermetic waste isolation.
In addition to neutralizing its own environmental impact, TMK assumes responsibility for restoring land after its exploitation by other owners. One such example is the sludge storage facility of the Polevsky Cryolite Plant in the Sverdlovsk region, which is being recultivated by the Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ).

This comprehensive and detailed document helps us improve our operations, taking into account the requirements of environmental legislation, commitments made, regional aspects and best industry practices. One of the directions of the Eco—strategy is waste management and waste disposal facilities, which helps us to use natural resources efficiently and take care of the regions of our presence. As a responsible nature user, we invest in ensuring environmental safety," Marianna Klimova said.
The 18th International Exhibition on municipal, industrial, construction, agricultural waste and ecology "WeistTek" is held with the participation of professionals in the field of waste management, recycling and ecology and is held together with the International Exhibition of Water Technologies EQUATEC. This year's events brought together companies and industry audiences from 75 regions of Russia and 15 countries.
