The previous record mill was installed in 2010 – then the mill produced 1160,5 thousand tons of rolled products. Plate mill 5000 of MMK were put into operation in 2009, the launching ceremony was attended by Vladimir Putin: politician praised one of the largest investment projects of Magnitogorsk modern times. Mill, whose products are provides, first and foremost, the needs of the Russian oil and gas complex, was the most productive among similar units in Europe. The complex equipment of the mill includes a unique, world's most powerful rolling stand with a maximum rolling force of about 12 thousand tons.
