Metalloinvest upgrades OM-3 at Mikhailovsky GOK

Mikhailovsky GOK (a subsidiary of metalloinvest) have received new equipment for reconstruction of kiln №3. The roller press is designed to introduce advanced technology in mining industry – grinding of concentrate on the rolls high pressure.

Today, the concentrate is fed to the OM-3 in the form of slurry from the processing plant. It further undergoes processes of condensation, mixing, filtration and conveyor transport is directed to the mixing with crushed limestone and Bertolini. The resulting mixture is manufactured iron ore pellets. The specific surface of the concentrate is 1350-1650 cm2/g.

the Introduction of new technological schemes allows to increase the specific surface of the concentrate not less than 200-300 cm2/g. due to additional grinding in the roller press (high pressure rolls). Thus, the concentrate will be more fines, which will improve the characteristics of pelletizing and sintering. In addition to obtaining pellets of high quality, to save gas and electricity by improving the efficiency of firing pellets and productivity of the roasting machine.

currently, the complex of kiln №3 is preparing the site for the equipment the new technologies in the areas of thickening and filtration. For supplying concentrate to the roller press and reset after regrinding technology will be implemented installation of the conveyor system.

in addition, in the reconstruction it is planned to increase the working area of most of the burning car by lengthening process zones of drying and cooling. There are additional aspiration system, exhaust fans replaced with more efficient ones.

the Bulk of the work in the framework of the modernization will be performed during planned stops of the roasting machine in August-September of this year. The launch of the upgraded machines to the experimental-industrial operation is planned in the 4th quarter of 2020.

According to the results of all activities is planned to increase productivity of the roasting machine by 5% from 630 tons per hour to 664 tons per hour. Earlier, in 2018, the first phase of the reconstruction performance has been increased by 5% from design 600 t/h 630 t/h.
