Izhstal honors war and labor veterans

The Izhstal plant (part of the Mechel Group) hosts events dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The veteran organization of the plant has 18 war veterans and 323 home front workers.

Representatives of the Council of Veterans and structural divisions of the plant visited the war veterans and the labor front. The plant's management met with the former heads of structural divisions and Izhstal veterans living in the Metallurgists' town.

On May 8, a rally-procession will take place. A festively decorated column of Izhstal workers with portraits of front-line metallurgists will pass through the territory of the plant. On the square in front of the "Long Bridge" checkpoint, a rally will take place, the participants of which will honor the memory of those killed on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence and lay flowers at the factory's Eternal Flame. The rally will be attended by students of the cadet class of school No. 80. Also, workers of the plant will take part in the city action "Immortal Regiment" on May 9.

The Izhevsk Metallurgical Plant made a worthy contribution to the Great Victory. He supplied metal for the production of weapons and military equipment to more than 150 enterprises in the country. During the war years, as much metal was produced as in the 10 pre-war years. In October 1944, the staff of the plant was awarded the Order of Lenin for selfless work. More than 1000 workers defended the independence of the Motherland with arms in hand. Five of them were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, three are full holders of the Order of Glory.
