The industrial tourist route "Izhstal" was examined by the Head of the Udmurt Republic
Alexander Brechalov, accompanied by the media, visited the electric arc furnace - one of the most modern at the enterprise. In 2010, a new steel-making complex was put into operation in the shop; the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremonial launch. The complex consists of an arc steel-making furnace with a capacity of 40 tons of liquid metal, a continuous casting machine with a capacity of 300 thousand tons of cast billets per year and equipment for out-of-furnace steel processing. It is also equipped with a modern gas cleaning system that cleans process emissions in accordance with the strictest standards.
Reconstruction of production brought Izhstal to a qualitatively new level of technical development and ensured the release of products in accordance with international quality standards, reduced the amount of emissions into the atmosphere almost 5 times.
Today, the electric steel-smelting shop has mastered the production technology of almost 2 thousand grades of steel and alloys, including structural, stainless, tool, high-speed, heat-resistant. The plant's metal products are supplied to enterprises of the automotive industry, aircraft and mechanical engineering, military-industrial complex, mining and oil-extracting industries. It is exported to the CIS countries, the EU, the USA and Central Asia.
The head of the republic told reporters that the excursion routes of "UdmurtiaZAVODIT" are focused on the story of the history of the formation of industrial enterprises of the republic. For tourists, it is planned to show museum expositions telling about the history of industrial enterprises, and production sites with a story about the manufacturing process of a particular product: “Today you met some of its elements at this unique enterprise.
Izhstal - the legendary enterprise of Udmurtia, so the tourist interest in it is quite justified. At the plant you can see how special steels are smelted, which are used in the most critical industries, how metallurgists work. We hope that the tourist route will help us show the enormous industrial potential of the industry and popularize the profession of a metallurgist, ”commented Sergey Kozennov, Managing Director of PJSC Izhstal.
