Today, the VIII Spartakiad "Healthy Generation" was opened at the UMMC Sports Palace. This year, for the first time, schoolchildren from 15 cities of Russia - Sverdlovsk, Kurgan, Vladimir and Orenburg regions, as well as from the Republic of Bashkortostan take part in the competition. Boys and girls will compete for medals in three sports: table tennis, athletics and football.
- We are very glad that so many participants came to the Spartakiad this year. This suggests that more and more schoolchildren are involved in sports every year. Competitions open up new horizons for children, they get to know new territories and exchange experiences with athletes from other cities and regions. We wish you all victory! - said the head of the department of social projects of UGMUK Elena Ustinova.
Spartakiad "Healthy generation »Has been held since 2012 with the support of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. The competitions are attended by schoolchildren from the cities of UMMC presence, who go in for a youth sports school, sports clubs and sports sections.
- Our children have been participating in the Games since the day of foundation. Every year, competitions of such an all-Russian scale motivate schoolchildren for further achievements. After the tournament, two girls got to the school of the Olympic reserve, - says the sports instructor of the Sibay branch of Uchalinsky GOK JSC Amir Khusainov, - In general, children's sports in Sibay are supported by the GOK. We have especially developed martial arts and basketball.
The prize fund is estimated this year almost 1.5 million rubles. The money will traditionally be used to purchase sports equipment and inventory for sports schools in the cities participating in the Games. Schoolchildren will compete for two days. On May 19, the ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the tournament will take place. The best young athletes will receive medals and valuable prizes from the UMMC.
