MMK's representative named one of the best purchasing directors in Russia
The purchasing directors rating is compiled for the second year in a row, its organizers are the "Association of purchasing directors" and the RAEX rating agency (RAEKS-Analytics). The list includes heads of purchasing departments of enterprises whose annual revenue in 2016–2018 exceeded 5 billion rubles. Pavel Vasev entered the top 30 of the best directors this year. This is not the first time that MMK's purchasing activity has been praised by experts. Earlier, Magnitka has repeatedly won the annual all-Russian competition "Leader of Competitive Procurement". In particular, last year the company was awarded for the best project to modernize business processes in procurement. As a result, fundamental organizational and structural changes took place in PJSC MMK's supply system, and a new - category - approach to the supplier selection process was successfully introduced. In particular, one of the innovations this year was the introduction of category strategies in the so-called "small purchases": this is the purchase of hardware, tools, pipeline fittings, building materials, electrical equipment, stationery, household goods, household appliances from the catalogs of large manufacturers or in online stores of complex suppliers. The essence of the new approach is that contracts with the selected suppliers are concluded in advance, under which corporate discounts are provided. The workshops select goods directly from the stock list available to the supplier, after which a purchase order is immediately generated. This scheme eliminates the need for additional approvals, significantly reduces the transaction load and significantly speeds up the procurement process. Thanks to the categorical approach, the total number of trades for electrical, IT and instrumentation equipment fell from 1,437 in 2017 to 1,308 last year. The forecast for 2019 is no more than 450 trades, which gives a threefold decrease in three years. This approach saves not only time, but also financial resources, since suppliers are also more comfortable working with pre-approved product nomenclatures and are ready to provide discounts.
