At the Kirov plant OCM completed the installation of new thermal facilities

Kirovsky OTsM Plant (part of UMMC-OTsM, which unites UMMC assets in the field of non-ferrous metals processing) has completed the modernization of rolling and procurement facilities by installing a new annealing furnace.

Commissioning of a new bell-type furnace is the last stage in the modernization of the rolling and procurement capacities of JSC "Kirovsky Zavod OCM". The bell-type furnace, consisting of four stands, was installed. Gas treatment equipment has been installed, engineering networks have been laid.

Since mid-August, hot testing of the equipment and operational adjustment work have been carried out under the leadership of the chief designer of Tachtech s.r.o (Czech Republic) Frantisek Larva. On August 20, the first charge was annealed, consisting of four rolls of L63 SHO brass with a thickness of 2.7 mm, to obtain mechanical properties corresponding to the soft state in accordance with GOST 2208-2007.

The annealing work was completed successfully: the metal was unloaded from the furnace and directed for further processing according to the current technological scheme. Following the mechanical tests, an assessment of the conformity of the required and obtained mechanical properties will be carried out. In accordance with the plan of performance and adjustment works, in the future it is planned to work out annealing modes on various types of alloys and standard sizes of workpieces, as well as with a protective atmosphere of different composition.

Commissioning of a new bell-type furnace for annealing coils metal in a protective atmosphere and stations for the preparation of nitrogen and hydrogen will allow the company to expand the range of rolled products and improve its quality characteristics. With the completion of commissioning works, JSC "KZOTsM" will be the first in Russia to start producing copper strips and sheets up to 1000 mm wide.
