Kuzbassrazrezugol has improved the quality of wastewater treatment at the Taldinsky open-pit mine
The Kuzbassrazrezugol company (an enterprise of the UGMK raw materials complex) has put into operation modern treatment facilities at the Taldinsky coal mine. The new nature protection facility is intended for the treatment of quarry wastewater at the company's Taiga field. The volume of investments amounted to more than 97 million rubles. The hydrotechnical solutions of the project provide for multi-stage wastewater treatment. The structure of the facility includes a cascade of settling ponds, a multilayer filtering array, a pipeline system and instrumentation. Quarry and surface wastewater from catchment ponds flows into the first two sequentially placed settling ponds, where preliminary mechanical cleaning of suspended solids (clay, sand etc.). The effluent then passes through a filtering dam, which consists of layers of sandstone, burnt, limestone and zeolite - a natural material with unique adsorption properties, which was formed as a result of the solidification and weathering of the products of eruptions of prehistoric volcanoes. Zeolite has the ability to bind heavy metals, phenols, nitrates, substances of the nitrogen group, actively absorbs hydrogen sulfide. After passing through the filter array, the purified water is collected in the third technological settling pond. In the future, the quality of the purified water will be monitored monthly by laboratory tests. To monitor the surface of the filtration flow, three downhole piezometers (a device for measuring the pressure of liquids) were installed, to assess the water level in the sedimentation tanks, three water measuring posts were installed. zeolite, - says the head of the department for ecology and land use of JSC "UK" Kuzbassrazrezugol "Zakhar Sapurin. - With the help of a combination of treatment methods (mechanical and adsorption), the quality of the discharged wastewater is improved. This allows the Company to comply with the requirements of the current environmental legislation "
