New lines at Sibkabel will triple the speed of tape winding of fire-resistant cables

Sibkabel JSC (part of the Cable Alliance Holding, which unites the cable assets of UMMC) installed two high-tech tape winding machines in shop No. 40. The productivity of the new equipment is almost 3 times higher than that of the existing analogue.

Vertical tape-winding machines are designed to apply mica-containing tapes to conductors of power and control cables with voltage up to 1 kV. Insulation made from this material ensures the products are fire resistant. Thanks to this, the equipment operability is maintained for three hours at temperatures up to 850 degrees.

Such cables are necessary for fire alarm systems, automatic fire extinguishing, emergency lighting, etc. They are indispensable at strategically important facilities, such as nuclear power plants and oil platforms, requiring increased attention to safety.

The new machines surpass the existing analogue in terms of tape application speed - 5-6 meters per minute instead of two, which makes it possible to increase performance is almost 3 times. In addition, high-tech equipment is fully automated and has sensors for breakage and end of bands.

«The frequency of rotation of the winding head is two thousand revolutions per minute, at such a high speed it is difficult to track breakage or end of the band. But thanks to the sensor, the machine will automatically stop, preventing rejects, "said Andrey Tikhanovich, a process engineer at Sibkabel.

In addition, the steps and winding speed can be quickly changed from the operator panel. Another additional advantage of vertical machines over horizontal ones is that they take up less production space.

“The demand for fire-resistant cables in the market is steadily growing. Taking into account the demand for these products, we develop new designs with improved characteristics and modernize production. This allows us not only to increase the output of products that are in demand, but also to improve control over the quality of technological processes in order to exclude defects, ”stressed Alexey Zhuzhin, director of Sibkabel JSC.
