Since the beginning of 2020, 28 external audits, including 7 audits of the quality management system (QMS), have taken place at OJSC BMZ, the management company of the BMK holding. This work allows the company to maintain its position in the global steel market, as well as find new consumers of products.
The most significant of the inspections carried out are audits to confirm compliance /extend the validity period in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015 (TUV Thurige /Germany), STB ISO 9001: 2015 (BelGISS, RB) and API Q1 /ISO 9001: 2015 (American Petroleum Institute, USA). The plant has also confirmed all valid certificates of conformity for the production of various types of products. seamless pipes for shipbuilding made of carbon and carbon-manganese steel grades (DNV GL, Germany).
As for the upcoming tasks, in December an important recertification audit will take place for the plant to confirm the compliance of the QMS with the requirements of the international standard IATF 16949: 2016. Its confirmation is necessary for the further implementation of supplies of products used for the manufacture of auto components. Mostly we are talking about hardware products (metalwork, BBP, RML) and rolled metal produced at Mill 850 and Section Rolling Shop No. 2.
By the end of the year, about a dozen more external audits to confirm certificates of conformity for QMS /products, including a specific audit to extend the validity period of the QMS certificate of conformity according to the requirements of STB ISO 9001 in the field of design and construction.
Currently, the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant has 57 certificates of conformity for the production of various types of products , which allow us to supply products to most of the EU countries, Israel, Russia, Ukraine and the USA. By the way, in January-October BMZ exported more than 1.7 million tons of metal products to 51 countries (according to operational data). The TOP-5 importers of Belarusian steel in 10 months of 2020 included Russia, Germany, Israel, Lithuania and Poland. In the regional context, more than 50% of all metal products exported by the plant go to the European market.
