Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant has manufactured rails for the "velvet" tracks of the Moscow metro

The rail products of the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (PJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, part of the Mechel Group) are used in the reconstruction of tracks on the ring line of the Moscow metro.

As part of the contract, ChMK shipped 2,000 tons of P50 and P65 rails to the Moscow metro. Due to the welding of rails using a special technology, the number of joints between them will decrease, and passengers will feel less vibration and noise - trips will become more comfortable and a quarter quieter. By 2020, the metro plans to replace only 265 kilometers of tracks, making them "velvet".

The plant becomes the supplier of the Moscow metro for the third time. In 2016, ChMK rails were used in the construction of a “velvet” noiseless track of the Moscow Central Ring (MCC).

ChMK rails are produced on a modern rail and structural mill using a unique for Russia technology of rail hardening in polymer solution. Thanks to this, the products have a high level of strength and wear resistance.
