Kuzbassrazrezugol has applied a modern wastewater treatment method
Kuzbassrazrezugol Management Company (an enterprise of the UMMC raw materials complex) has completed the construction of modern treatment facilities at the Krasnobrodsky coal mine. The new environmental facility is intended for additional wastewater treatment at the outlet to the Cherta River. For these purposes, the company allocated almost 40 million rubles.
The principle of integrated wastewater treatment is applied at the new treatment facilities. It is based on the use of two step-by-step methods: first - mechanical (including adsorption), then - chemical cleaning. Mechanical treatment takes place in a system of settling ponds and a filtering array: in two sequentially placed artificial reservoirs, wastewater is purified from suspended solids (clay, sand, etc.), then they pass through a filtering dam made of crushed stone and zeolite, a mineral that has unique adsorptive properties. Zeolite is capable of binding heavy metals, phenols, nitrates, etc. and it is not the first time that they have been used at the treatment facilities of the Kuzbassrazrezugol Management Company. After passing through the filtering array, the purified water is collected in the third pond, from where it enters the building for disinfection and metering of the discharged water flow through the pipeline system. Here, before being released into the river, a chemical purification method is used - disinfection by reagent water treatment.
