Uchalinsky GOK is constructing a building to shelter the tailings
Uchaly (Republic of Bashkortostan)
At the enrichment plant of the Uchalinsky GOK (an enterprise of the raw materials complex of UMMC), a room is being erected to shelter an open warehouse of the filtering and drying department (FSO). Copper-containing middlings and dried tailings are sent to the warehouse for temporary storage - a by-product of the concentrating production. “When unloading products from the conveyor path to the warehouse, when they are loaded into technological transport, dust is inevitably generated. The construction of a covered space will help us solve the dust problem and reduce emissions of harmful substances into the environment, ”explained the head of the FSO Marat Mulikov.
The working documentation, developed by the design department of the Uchalinsky GOK, provides for the construction of a prefabricated building made of metal structures, equipped with two openings with automatic gates for the entry of both dump trucks and frontal loaders, as well as railway cars.
Currently, both copper-containing industrial product and tailings are removed from the open warehouse by dump trucks. Copper-containing middlings are sent to the finished product warehouse for subsequent shipment to consumers, and the tailings are sent to the Uchalinsky underground mine, where they are further used as a filling mixture to fill the spaces worked out underground. With the commissioning of the covered room, the tailings will be transported by train.
Today, the building is ready to shelter an open warehouse at about 80%. The construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2020. The planned cost of construction of the tailings shelter is about 32 million rubles.
