Industrial tests of new equipment are underway at the Svyatogora concentrating plant
At the enrichment plant of Svyatogor JSC (an enterprise of the UMMC metallurgical complex) industrial tests of new equipment - actuators for adjusting the slurry level - pneumatic drives are underway.
The experiment has been taking place in the grinding and flotation department since mid-August this year. Here, on the flotation equipment - 16-cube pneumomechanical flotation machines of the 7th and 8th sections - three pneumatic drives manufactured by both Russian and foreign firms are installed. The purpose of industrial tests is to check the stability of the operation of units powered by compressed air energy and their effect on the flotation process.
- We have old electromechanical drives installed on our flotation machines to automatically adjust the foam layer level, - said and. about. Anton Ershov, foremen of the production site of the concentrating plant of Svyatogor JSC, - many are already working out their resource. We borrowed the experience of our colleagues from Gaysky GOK, SUMZ, which have been using pneumatic drives for a long time. These devices have a number of advantages over electric drives. Firstly, they are more productive, and secondly, they have a simpler design, which means that their configuration is simplified.
And this is not only in theory. Svyatogorovskiye concentrators have already become convinced of the flawless operation of pneumatic drives in practice. Their effectiveness is confirmed by the intermediate results of the experiment. The lightweight design of the pneumatic drive and their high performance allow maintaining a stable slurry level during the flotation process.
- We set the required level and the process is stable. This makes it possible to obtain a higher quality product and reduce losses, - said Anton Ershov.
Industrial tests will be completed in December, after which the concentrators will choose a pneumatic drive from one of the three manufacturers who participated in the experiment. Then, it is planned to modernize about 20 pieces of equipment in the grinding and flotation department.
