NLMK supplied raw materials for the construction of the central ring road
Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant supplied 2 million tons of crushed slag to DSK Avtoban for the construction of the fourth section of the Central Ring Road (TsKAD), which opened on 28 December. The total volume of raw materials supplied by the plant for the third and fourth sections of this project amounted to 4.5 million tons. Thanks to its convenient geographic location and the availability of modern crushing equipment, NLMK has provided the construction site with year-round supplies for three years.
Crushed stone from blast-furnace slag has comparable strength characteristics to natural crushed stone. Availability of stocks in warehouses makes it possible to form regular deliveries to construction sites. In addition, blast-furnace slag is a safe man-made raw material that allows conserving natural resources.
“NLMK has created a mixture based on blast-furnace slag specifically for DSK Autoban's technology for constructing the base of the roadbed. Our company plans to actively develop cooperation in the field of road construction, "commented Ilya Gushchin, Vice President for Sales of NLMK Group.
