Chelyabinsk, Russia - January 28, 2021 - Mechel Group (MOEX: MTLR, NYSE: MTL), a leading Russian mining and metallurgical company, announces the signing of another agreement on the implementation of measures to reduce emissions of pollutants into the air of the city of Chelyabinsk. As part of the agreement, ChMK will shorten the deadlines for the implementation of some points of the environmental agreement from 2019 and take on additional obligations.

The updated set of measures to reduce the environmental load on the atmospheric air under this agreement will be calculated until 2026

The volume of investments will amount to more than 3 billion rubles.

The document was signed by the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Teksler and the General Director of Mechel PAO Oleg Korzhov.

As part of the agreement The plant will install a modern gas cleaning system at the foundry yard of blast furnaces No. 4 and 5, overhaul blast furnace No. 5, modernize the gas cleaning system in the electric arc furnace shop with a set of measures to restore the efficiency of wet gas cleaning, and take measures to maintain the efficiency of gas cleaning units. /p>

The signed document became the fourth environmental agreement implemented by Mechel in Chelyabinsk. It should be noted that at ChMK, in addition to a set of measures to reduce the impact on the atmosphere, which became part of the federal project "Clean Air", the program continues to reduce the impact on water bodies and improve the treatment of industrial wastewater. The corresponding agreement between Mechel Group and the Chelyabinsk Region was signed in November 2020. This will reduce the discharge of waste water into water bodies by 3.5 times, the volume of investments will be about 1.5 billion rubles.
