Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk region)
JSC Uralelectromed (an enterprise of the UMMC metallurgical complex) has started the second stage of reconstruction of the raw materials warehouse in the railway shop. By the end of the year, the working area of the loading area will be repaired. As a result of a large-scale reconstruction, railway workers will receive a modern and easy-to-use building with lean manufacturing technologies.
The warehouse of the railway workshop will be updated in three stages. In 2018, the roof, building facade and first floor were renovated. At the second stage, the reconstruction of the working area of the loading area began: the work area will be about 5 thousand square meters meters. At the moment, anti-corrosion treatment of metal structures, painting of walls and ceilings is being carried out. After that, the floors will be repaired and the overhaul and asphalting of the 230 meter narrow gauge track will be carried out. Repair work is going on without interrupting the existing production.
The second stage of reconstruction of the raw material warehouse will be completed in the third quarter of 2019, the third will start in 2020. Within its framework, 250 meters of wide gauge railroad tracks will be repaired.
An important part of the reconstruction was the introduction of "lean production". After the first stage of the repair, on the first floor in the warehouse, inventory items are stored according to the 5S system with the installation of new racks.
The warehouse of Uralelectromed JSC in round-the-clock mode accepts, stores, records the movement and distribution of blister copper and non-ferrous scrap for further processing in the copper smelting shop (MPC). Here, more than 30 thousand tons of raw materials are received by rail and road transport per month. The blister copper supplied from the UMMC enterprises is loaded onto trolleys and delivered to the MPC along a narrow track by interdepartmental transport.
The railway is the most important transport artery of Uralelectromed JSC. In 2018, the railway department (RDC) transported about 342 thousand tons of cargo on a wide track and more than 1.5 million tons on a narrow track. Over the past five years, the Railway Center has been successfully implementing large-scale reconstruction of track and storage facilities, rolling stock and equipment.
