Armored cars of the UMMC museum complex went to the spring warm-up
Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk Region)
Rare motorcycles and cars of the Museum of Military Equipment for the first time this year left the gates of the Exhibition Center "Parade Roster". It contains running samples of the period 1930-40s. They take part in the annual festive processions that take place in Verkhnyaya Pyshma on May 9.
Before the first start of the engines, the components and mechanisms are carefully checked, the batteries are charged and the fuel is poured into the tanks. “The cars stood motionless for almost a year! Under these conditions, hoses dry out and crack. They need to be changed. The electrical wiring is oxidized, carbon deposits appear on the ignition contacts, as on any car. So armored cars also need maintenance, ”says Alexander Viktorov, senior mechanic of the department for work with equipment of the UMMC Museum Complex.
The BA-64 armored car, M-72 motorcycles and the Willys off-road vehicle are opening the season. A GAZ-4 pickup truck with an anti-aircraft gun in the back and TIZ motorcycles are waiting for their turn. They will take part in the festive procession for the first time. The main purpose of the first exit is to find possible malfunctions and start fixing them.
On Victory Day, tanks, self-propelled guns, motorcycles and cars over 75 years old will pass almost five kilometers along the main avenue of the copper capital of the Urals. Preparation for this march will take all the time remaining before the celebration. Following the motorcycles and cars, tracked vehicles - tanks and self-propelled guns - will begin to be removed from the boxes. In April, running samples will make two training passes in a general formation. This year it will consist of 39 historical combat vehicles.
