EKZ has provided the LNG plant in the Baltic with a cable of increased fire safety

Kolchugino (Vladimir region)

Kolchuginsky "Elektrokabel" (part of the "Cable Alliance Holding", which unites the cable assets of UMMC) supplied more than 400 kilometers of NIKI control cables for the Russian medium-tonnage plant for the production liquefied natural gas "Cryogas-Vysotsk" in the Leningrad region.

The basis of the delivery was made up of fire-resistant control cables used in fire and security alarm systems.

"The cable insulation and sheath are made of organosilicon ( silicone) rubber. In the event of a fire, it will remain operational for three hours. In addition, we made the shell of the structure in red, so that it could be easily distinguished from other cable lines, "noted Anatoly Barinov, chief technologist of EKZ JSC.

Increased fire safety of silicone rubber is provided due to its ceramization under exposure to flame: the organic part of the material burns out, and the inorganic part forms a dense layer, similar to the usual ceramics. At the same time, the dielectric properties of the conductor are preserved. In addition, due to the use of this material in the shell, the combustion products have low toxicity. This allows for the safe evacuation of people, minimizing the consequences for health.

Additional advantages include resistance to oil and gasoline. NIKI cables are widely used in automation systems for electrochemical protection and offshore platforms, at installation sites in extreme operating conditions.

Development of cables and wires in accordance with the wishes of the customer is one of the competitive advantages of Elektrokabel. The Kolchuginsky plant has always been famous for its scientific and technical base. And the entry into the Cable Alliance Holding made it possible to further strengthen it at the expense of specialists from the Tomsk Scientific Research Institute NIKI. Every year KhKA develops from 10 to 30 new cable designs that meet the most varied needs of customers ", - stressed the director of JSC" EKZ "Evgeny Sukhodoev.
