On April 16, in the satellite city of Novovoronezh NPP, the qualifying stage of the "AtomSkills" professional skill championship of Rosatom State Corporation in the competence of "Welding Technologies" was completed.
The competition was held within the framework of the V Divisional Championship of Professional Skills REASkills2021 with the technical support of VELDES and ESAB companies on the territory of Novovoronezhatomenergoremont, a specialized repair organization of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation of the Russian Federation.
To complete the tasks, 4 welding stations were equipped with welding equipment that meets the standards of AtomSkills and WorldSkills Russia.
The winner of the competence was Alexander Lazarev, an employee of Novovoronezhatomenergoremont, Ivan Lashmanov, a specialist of Kalininatomenergoremont, and Alexander Fedyukhin from Kola Nuclear Power Plant took the third place.
"I heartily congratulate the participants on their excellent results! The REASkills2021 championship shows the high level of training of our welders from year to year. By their example, they demonstrate that welding can be high-tech, interesting and beautiful. These are the technologies that are the future, " said Sergey V. Gerasimov, Chief Engineer of Novovoronezhatomenergoremont, a branch of Atomenergoremont JSC.
As a gift from VELDES, the official distributor-partner of ESAB, all three winners were presented with superportable welding machines Handy Arc 160i weighing 3 kg with a set of electrodes OK 46.00, welding masks A20 and welding gloves ESAB Curved TIG. In addition, all participants of the "Welding Technologies" competence were presented with memorable gifts consisting of a set of welding accessories manufactured by ESAB.
In the summer, Alexander Lazarev will compete for the title of the best at the AtomSkills2021 industry championship.
"For such large-scale competitions, it is important that all equipment and consumables meet international standards and the level set by WorldSkills Russia. The equipment from ESAB has proven itself to fully meet the high quality standards, so the result shown on it can be considered an unconditional confirmation of the welder's skill, " comments Sergey Stroykov, Director of VELDES.
"As an industry leader, it is important for us that production facilities can use the full potential of ESAB equipment. And this can only be done if the specialists have in-depth knowledge in welding and the skill to work on modern devices. For many years, we have supported the AtomSkills championship and young professionals who are the" drivers " of the industry, and we note that the level of skill is steadily growing. I congratulate the winner of REASkills2021 and wish him good luck in the next stages, " concludes Dmitry Kuraksa, Managing Director of ESAB Russia and CIS.
