MMK increased shipments of steel products in containers by 2.2 times

Today, the transportation of rolled metal in open and closed containers is one of the key trends for the leading metallurgical companies in Russia, and PJSC MMK pays great attention to the development of this area. Among the main advantages of using containers for the transportation of metal products: simplicity, convenience and speed of unloading from specialized containers in comparison with open wagons, as well as the absence of the need to unload, store and load reusable fasteners (frames) used for delivery in open wagons, which reduces the costs of the consignee ... In addition, the use of containers allows you to improve the level of service by organizing multimodal delivery schemes directly to the consignee's gate, thereby ensuring the delivery of small consignments to points where there are no own railways.

But most importantly, containers provide additional protection of metal products from mechanical impact and damage during transportation and handling, and in the case of closed containers, they are also protected from atmospheric precipitation. Ensuring the safety of the cargo allows us to meet the requirements of consumers for the quality of the supplied products.

Focus on customers is one of the key strategic initiatives of PJSC MMK. “In modern conditions, it is not enough just to produce high-quality products that are in demand on the market. The development of customer services is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, we pay great attention to the digitalization of sales channels, the development of logistics through the creation of remote warehouses and the implementation of a distribution strategy, ensuring safety during the delivery of metal products to the client, "said Pavel Shilyaev, General Director of PJSC MMK.

Currently, PJSC MMK ships in containers only rolled metal products. It is planned that in April the share of rolled steel delivered using containers will amount to 16% of the total shipments of rolled metal products. Within three months, MMK expects to increase this figure to 20%.

The rolls are loaded into containers directly in the shops at the MMK production site.

directions: to the markets of the Russian Federation and the CIS, as well as to export to non-CIS countries (to ports). The main recipients of metal products in containers are companies in the automotive industry, pipe companies, equipment manufacturers, and regional storage sites. Including products in containers are delivered in small batches to the warehouses of OOO MMK Trading House using multimodal delivery schemes.
