JSC "Uralelectromed" prepared 45% of the foundations for the third stage of the copper electrolysis workshop
Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk Region)
In the third stage of the copper electrolysis shop under construction, JSC Uralelectromed (an enterprise of the metallurgical complex of UMMC), the installation of foundations for the main columns has entered an active phase - out of 55 units, 25 have already been filled - in the volume of 703 m³ of concrete.
According to Stanislav Manin, the chief specialist for the reconstruction of the workshop, the builders of the Uralmetallurgmontazh-2 contractor are pouring foundations from strong sulfate-resistant anti-acid concrete. It is on this foundation that the main columns of the future workshop building will be installed.
At the moment, the contractors are completing the soil replacement process - pouring the concrete "cushion" with "lean" concrete. The total scope of work was 8660 m³ - about 96% of the entire territory of the third stage of the workshop. In addition, the waterproofing of the concrete preparation is being completed at the construction site.
The third stage will operate in the same way as the first two using a baseless technology using stainless steel cathodes. The new facility will house one circulation system, consisting of 224 electrolysis baths with associated process equipment (tanks, pumps, heat exchangers). The project also provides for the installation of two automated lines - an anode preparation machine and an anode scrap washing machine.
Recall that in February 2012, Uralelectromed JSC commissioned the first stage of a modern workshop with a capacity of 160 thousand tons of cathode copper in year. In May 2018, the second stage with a similar capacity was launched. The new production facility, which is scheduled to be completed in 2022, will allow the company to produce a total of up to 400,000 tonnes of copper cathodes per year.
