From production project to implementation with Sandvik Coromant
Under the slogan "Metalworking in a new way", the industrial press conference of Sandvik Coromant was held on May 13 in the Smart office of SOK Rybakov Tower. The event was attended by representatives of leading software developers and advanced technologies-CGTech VERICUT, Master CAM (LLC "TSOLLA"), MS Metrologi (Metrologic Group) with a presentation of the universal measuring software Metrolog X4 and JSC "Center for Additive Technologies" based on the State Corporation "Rostec".
The Chernyshev MMP plant, StankoRemServis, part of Transmashholding, and Krasnogorsk Plant named after Chernyshev shared their experience of working with Sandvik Coromant and the most striking success stories. Zverev.
The management team of Sandvik Coromant spoke about the key areas of work in recent years and the internal transformations that have taken place in the company both at the global level and in Russia, in particular. Special attention was paid to a new approach to working with customers, digitalization of all processes from business to production, and solutions for key industry segments.
"Sandvik Coromant has always been a tool company, but in recent years we have made an internal transformation and changed the business model of our company. We invested a lot in science, acquired various assets, began to develop digital technologies, and especially focused on additive technologies. Modern business is a partner business, so we have actively developed partnerships in the field of information technology with the world's leading companies. To date, we have accumulated a very large pool of knowledge in various fields. Thanks to our technological capabilities and expertise, we provide customers with new services that not only cover the needs of production at all stages from preparation to the finished part and component, but also anticipate expectations, " said Andrey Pashenko, Sales Director of Sandvik Coromant, an aerospace sales cluster. – In our work, we adhere to the principles of LEAN at all levels. We strive to analyze and improve both production processes and those related to direct work with the customer. Today, we do not focus on instrumental solutions, but focus on the specific tasks of the customer and the development of personal solutions."
Despite the fact that 2020 was a challenge for all industries, the company continued to strengthen its position in the market and expand its partner network. Thus, cooperation with such giants as Microsoft and Autodesk was strengthened, and the merger with CGTech VERICUT was completed. There is also a dialogue with Russian partners, such as the Center for Additive Technologies JSC, which was created on the basis of holding corporations of the Rostec aviation complex.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to take part in such an interesting event! I hope it will become a good tradition. We have personally known some Sandvik Coromant specialists for more than five years and have implemented a number of major projects in the field of aircraft engine construction together. However, today I would like to talk about the prospects of our partnership in the field of additive manufacturing. The Center for Additive Technologies was established in 2018 as a single integrator for the implementation of additive technologies with its head office in Moscow. And in three years, we have opened several sites in different cities of our country. Today, we have 27 units of additive equipment with a capacity of 15.5 tons, and by the end of 2021, we plan to increase this figure to 20 tons. When we talk about additive manufacturing, we understand that we are not talking about the final product, but about the workpiece, which then needs to be processed. And this is where Sandvik Coromant becomes our potential partner in the machining of these workpieces to produce the final part. In addition, we had the opportunity to get acquainted with the additive manufacturing of the Sandvik Group in Sweden, and we will be happy if the cooperation in this direction will also be further developed. We hope that in the near future we will be able to come to a full – scale implementation of joint projects," said Vladislav Kochkurov, General Director of TSAT JSC.
To date, the Russian division of Sandvik Coromant employs more than a hundred employees, of which more than 30% are process engineers and software engineers. From 2019 to 2021, more than 23 thousand hours were spent with customers, and more than 6 thousand hours were allocated for the implementation of projects.
According to Dmitry Doronin, Regional Director of sales and Service at Sandvik Coromant, Aerospace sales cluster, improving overall efficiency, the number of tasks and financial indicators would not have been possible without the digitalization of processes that was started many years ago. Guided by its own experience, today the company offers the development and implementation of digital solutions for customers ' enterprises, especially since its technological capabilities and competencies cover the entire production cycle from design to measuring the quality of the final part and optimizing business processes.
"Sandvik Coromant produces between 2,500 and 3,000 new products every year. We have always been a leader in this field, but competition dictates its own rules. In order to maintain a position in the market, you need to offer something more than a catalog tool. Therefore, our company went further and focused on the needs of specific industries where our customers live, work and develop. For us, all industries are a priority, only the share of presence differs. Sandvik Coromant is most widely represented in the aerospace industry, general and railway engineering, and machine tool construction. Our comprehensive solutions are also used in the production of medical prostheses, metallurgy and energy. In fact, everything around you is based on Sandvik Coromant solutions. Together with our partners and customers, we implement projects in the field of civil aviation, railway construction, and even help the KAMAZ-Master team to take first places, " said Alexey Sukalenko, Sales Director of Sandvik Coromant, General Engineering cluster.
"We started working actively with Sandvik Coromant in 2017, and thanks to this, we were able to centralize many processes related to the selection, delivery and testing of tools. It is important to note that in our joint work, we focused more on the approach, rather than on the delivery of the tool. With the active participation of the company's specialists, we were able to solve a number of strategic tasks – to upgrade equipment at one of the enterprises, to program production processes, to increase the speed of roughing, etc. Our partnership provides real results, such as increased productivity and reduced cost of the final part. We are grateful to Sandvik Coromant for the fruitful cooperation and the opportunity to share its results at this conference, "Armen Avakian, General Director of Stankoremservice – Transmashholding LLC, said in his speech.
