Sibkabel has developed a glow-effect cable for miners
Sibkabel (part of the Cable Alliance Holding, which unites the cable assets of UMMC) has developed a new design of a cable with a radiating effect, which will be in demand in the mining industry.
The radiant sheath makes the excavator cable more visible in in the dark, which prevents its mechanical damage during open pit mining. The modern design was developed within the framework of the import substitution program.
The cable will be indispensable in operating conditions at coal mines, since it is clearly visible from a long distance, which minimizes the risk of heavy equipment hitting it. Laboratory tests have confirmed the functionality of the new product. Pilot tests are planned ahead, "- said Deputy Chief Technologist Evgeny Stryzhkov.
An emitting element in the form of an electroluminescent wire is introduced into the cable at the stage of general twisting, and then a sheath made of polyurethane is applied. This is one of the strongest and wear-resistant materials (in comparison with rubber), which is of decisive importance in conditions of constant contact with rocks.
"Today, very strict requirements are imposed on the cable for the mining industry. Mining conditions are changing, so we are also constantly improving cable designs, adapting them to the growing requirements of consumers. Due to new developments, we have the opportunity to compete with foreign manufacturers and expand sales markets, "- said the director of " Sibkabel "Alexey Zhuzhin.
